Albert’s Tarantella

[Festival]

Albert’s Tarantella boasts “Nevada’s most eclectic evening of theater, music and visual art.” That may not seem like much, but this annual Halloween-themed festival — which takes place at the Red Barn Art Center at Goldwell Open Air Museum, near Rhyolite, some 115 miles north of Las Vegas — is a seasonal highlight for Southern Nevada. Among the artistic and entertainment offerings this year are hosts and magicians The Dymonds, mentalist Paul Draper and Northern California folk duo Coyote Grace. This writer had the good fortune of attending a friend’s house party where Coyote Grace happened to perform. Its best song, “A Guy Named Joe,” chronicles the girl-becomes-boy liberation of handsome singer Joe Stevens, and it surely silences any room the band happens to be playing. Your $25 ticket also gets you a barbecue dinner and dessert. All told, Albert’s Tarantella is worth the gusty trip north. Mike Prevatt, mprevatt@lvcitylife.com
